What’s new in Everglow

Everglow 1.5, the current version, came out on 1 October 2026 and adds Japanese, French and Spanish, plus better Ask answers, relationships and imports.

Taken from the App Store release notes, 10 October 2026.

Every version in the App Store’s version history is listed below, newest first, in plain words. Where a release note was brief, the details come from the app itself at that version. Dates are App Store release dates in UTC.

Version 1.5 — 1 October 2026

  • Everglow is now available in Japanese, French and Spanish, alongside English and Simplified Chinese. It follows your iPhone’s language, or you can choose one in Settings under Languages.
  • Ask now answers from the original text of your entries and conversations, not from monthly summaries the app generated. The excerpts shown under an answer are the entries it used.
  • Questions about before or after an event, such as “what changed after I moved?”, are checked against that event’s date. If Ask can’t tell which event you mean, it says so instead of guessing.
  • Relationship history keeps your corrections. A relationship type you set by hand stays when entries are read again, and a passing mention of someone after a relationship ended no longer makes it current again.
  • Each relationship now records every entry that states it, so deleting one entry no longer erases a relationship that other entries still state.
  • The relationship map opens centered on the people it shows, at a size where every stated relationship still has a visible line.
  • An import review keeps your edits if you leave the app before confirming it.
  • A running or stopped import appears in Everglow’s notification center (the bell), with progress, time left, a Stop button and the reason it stopped. An import paused by the free limit continues on its own when you buy or restore Everglow Unlimited.
  • With on-device AI, your chat messages and questions now go ahead of background work. If a reply still has to wait, the chat says so.
  • When an AI request fails, a short message explains why, worded for the engine you use. A chat reply that fails is now reported as failed instead of being replaced with a stock line.
  • Fixes for launches that stalled when the iPhone’s notification service was slow to respond, and for text cut off with “…” on smaller screens, with larger text or in other languages.

Version 1.4 — 17 September 2026

Import, export, and a rebuilt relationship map, labeled beta.

  • Bring a journal in from a file, a folder of notes, a CSV or JSON export, screenshots (their text is read on your iPhone), or pasted text.
  • Nothing is saved until you have reviewed it. You can fix dates, edit, merge, split or leave entries out.
  • Imported entries keep their original dates. An entry with no readable date waits to be dated instead of landing on today.
  • Large imports run in the background and pick up where they stopped if you close the app.
  • Export everything as one ZIP of plain Markdown files, plus your conversations. Everglow can import that export back.
  • Each connection on the map shows the sentence behind it, or where it came from. You can confirm a relationship, or mark two people as not related so the line stays gone.
  • Center the map on anyone, find the path between two people, search by name, read the map as a list, zoom out to whole groups, or switch to Orbits to see people in rings by distance.
  • Everglow finds groups of people in your writing and names them from what you wrote. You can rename, merge, split or remove a group.
  • A relationship that ended shows when and why, stays on the map as a faded line, and can be restored.

Version 1.3 — 12 September 2026

The App Store note read “Improves Knowledge Freshness and Companion Memory” and “New Entity Facts Page.” In practice:

  • Each person, place or thing has an All facts page that lists everything the journal holds about them, grouped by kind, such as where they live, work and relationships, with a filter for each kind.
  • Facts age the way they do in life. A birthplace stays true, and a passing state, such as a cold, stops counting as current 30 days after the journal last mentioned it.
  • Facts that say the same thing in different words are combined into one.
  • The companion sees when each fact was last confirmed and whether it is current or earlier, so it is less likely to treat an old situation as today’s.
  • The companion’s opening message no longer asks again about something you have already answered.

Version 1.2 — 7 August 2026

  • Everglow Cloud (beta): hosted AI with no API key and nothing to set up. Subscribe or try it free, and journaling, chat and search run on Everglow’s hosted service. Your entries are not stored on Everglow’s servers, and your words are never used to train models.
  • With Siri, Shortcuts or the Action Button, you can dictate an entry, ask your journal a question, or hear what you wrote recently.
  • On This Day: what you wrote a year ago today appears at the top of your journal.
  • Keyword search across the whole journal, starred entries, and browsing by topic. Entries are sorted into topics automatically, and you can tag them yourself.
  • The companion remembers what is coming up and what is still unresolved, and follows up, as in “how did the interview go?” Tapping a check-in opens the conversation, and threads rest once they are done.
  • Mood is read from your writing and is easy to correct, and your corrections shape the monthly story Everglow writes.
  • Rotating writing prompts, a short tour on first launch, complete Simplified Chinese, and many smaller fixes.

Version 1.1 — 2 July 2026

Everglow first appeared on the App Store on 2 July 2026, and 1.1 is the earliest version in its version history. It was published without release notes.

Newer changes appear here when they ship.

How do I update Everglow?

Apps from the App Store update automatically unless you have turned that off. To update by hand, open the App Store, tap your photo at the top, tap App Updates, then tap Update next to Everglow. Apple’s instructions cover both ways. Your version number is at the bottom of Everglow’s Settings.

Do updates change my journal?

No. An update does not rewrite what you wrote, and your entries stay on your iPhone. When a new version reads entries in a new way, Everglow may ask once whether to re-read your older entries. It says how many and where they will be processed, and you can choose Later.

Where do I report a problem?

In the app, open Settings and tap Contact Support, or email eightman532+everglowsupport@gmail.com. Include your version number and what you were doing when it happened.
